Nach dem Gouache-Experiment packte mich der Ehrgeiz, es mal wieder mit Ölmalerei zu versuchen. Als Motiv diente dieses Naturbild eines Felsenhaufens an einem norwegischen Fjord.

After my gouache experimental ambitions, I grabbed my oil colors just for fun. I've chosen this nature image of a rock pile served on a Norwegian fjord.

mag mancher regelmäßige Besucher meiner Daily Paintings spontan denken. Bei genauem Vergleich der beiden Versionen merkt er dann aber, dass es sich beim heutigen Motiv um eine veränderte Version handelt. Da ich nicht so zufrieden mit meinem Bild war, habe ich es kurzerhand mit Ölfarben neu übermalt.

A closer comparison of the two versions from today and from saturday will show you, that this is a modified version. Since I was not so happy with my painting, I simply over-painted the old one with oil paints.

Gerade mache ich Farbskizzen für Venedig, da gibt es bei DPW (das ist das Forum, wo ihr meine Bilder kaufen und ersteigern könnt) einen Wettbewerb zur Farbe »Radiant Orchid« von Pantone(TM). 

Das passt besonders gut zu den farbenfrohen Häusern der venezianischen Insel Burano.

I just did some color sketches of Venice, as the DPW Challenge offers a competition with the color »Radiant Orchid« by PANTONE(TM).

Am Wochenende besuche ich den Ölmalkurs bei Till Warwas in der Kunstfabrik Hannover. Sehr nettes Ambiente und ein hervorragender Kursleiter, der zeigt, was man mit Ölfarbe alles machen kann. Hier mein Bild vom Samstag.

This weekend I joined the oil painting class with Till Warwas in the KUNSTFABRIK (art factory). Hanover. Very nice ambiance and an excellent trainer shows what you can do with oil paint. Here is my painting from Saturday.

Nachdem ich vorgestern die New Yorker Taxis in Toronto gezeigt habe, wollte ich mit einem echten Torontoer Taxi nicht hinter dem Berg halten. Obwohl, »Stiel-Blüten« waren doch gestern. Mann, diese Hitze... Wusstet ihr, dass »Stilblüte« auf englisch »bloomers« heißt?

Taxi, bitte!

Die kanadische Goldrute in unserem Garten glomm (man kann übrigens auch glimmte sagen) in der heißen Sommersonne. Das Gelb erinnerte mich an die New Yorker Taxis, die ich in Toronto sah. Denn in Toronto werden aus Kosten- und Organisationsgründen viele Filme gedreht, die in New York spielen sollen. Und so fanden sich an einem Filmset Unmengen dieser Yellow Cabs.

Taxi please
The Canadian goldenrod in our garden glimmered (incidentally you can also say smoldered) in the hot summer sun. The yellow reminded me of the New York taxis, which I saw in Toronto. Due to cost and organzation, Toronto offers many a good reason for filmmakers to shoot thier movies here, rather than in NYC. And so I found, on a movie set oodles of yellow cabs.

0313 Sommerziel

Gestern konnte man bei sommerlichen Temperaturen endlich wieder draußen malen. Diesmal auch seit langem wieder einmal in Öl. Meine Erfahrung zeigt, dass ich hierfür ungefähr doppelt so viel Zeit, wie für ein Acrylbild benötige.
Das Motiv ist exakt 4 Jahre alt und stammt von einer Wanderung durch das  Biosphärenresevat  Rhön.

Summer Target
To my pleasure the outside temperatures allowed to paint outside yesterday. My experience shows that I need about twice as much time as for an acrylic painting.
The motive is exactly 4 years old and comes from a hike through the biosphere reserve of the Rhoen.

Golfspelz

Das heutige Daily Painting erinnert mich irgendwie an mein erstes Auto, einen roten Golf I. Leider nur farblich. Denn diesen Ford Mustang aus den späten Sechzigern hätte ich natürlich lieber gehabt.

Golf Clothing
Somehow this '68 Ford Mustang reminds me of my first car, (sorry for that) a red Golf I. Unfortunately the only thing in common is its color. Sure I would have preferred the Mustang.
