In der Bibliothek habe ich heute ein Buch über Cezanne ausgeliehen. Dort fand ich sein »Haus des Gehängten«, welches er in der ersten »Impressionisten«-Ausstellung in Paris zeigte. Dieses erinnerte mich an eines meiner Fotos, welches ich schon lange als Vorlage in meinem »Könnte-man-mal-malen-Archiv« habe. »Impressionist« war übrigens ursprünglich ein ironisch gemeintes Schimpfwort, das die betroffenen Künstler gar nicht so gern hörten.
The Village of the Hanged
Today I borrowed a book about Cezanne in the library. It shows as one masterpiece his »Hanged Man's House«. It was his painting for the first »Impressionists« exhibition in Paris. The motif reminded me of one of my photos, which I have since long as a template in my "Could-be-painted-archive". Btw »Impressionist« originally was meant in an ironic and insulting context.
