Bei dieser Serie habe ich ausschließlich selbst fotografierte Bilder aus dem Ordner "Zeugs" genommen. Darin sammele ich eigentlich solche Motive, die auf den ersten Blick "interessant" erscheinen, aber dann irgendwie doch nicht. Habe erst später gemerkt, dass ich das mittlere Bild -Chateau de Beynac- schon einmal gemalt hatte.

In this series, I used only own photographies from the "stuff" folder. I am actually collecting such motifs, which at first glance appear "interesting", but on a second guess "no not really". I noticed later that I had painted the middle one (Chateau de Beynac) already.

Die Übung vom Donnerstag – ein Bild mit möglichst wenigen Strichen zu malen – war eine besondere Herausforderung. Ich habe dies nun etwas modifiziert und mich einem kleinen Malmarathon unterzogen. Die nächsten 12 Bilder habe ich alle quasi gleichzeitig gemalt. Also begonnen -wie immer- mit der dunkelsten Farbe und dann immer heller werdend bis hin zum Weiß. Ich habe dann reihum (von Bild 1 bis Bild 12) immer jeweils dieselbe Farbe benutzt. Ziel der Übung ist es, a) schnell zu malen und b) Informationen zu reduzieren und c) in einem durchgängigen Stil und d) mit denselben Farben zu malen, was e) eine "innere Harmonie" innerhalb dieser Bilderserie ergibt.

The exercise from Thursday – to paint a picture with as few strokes as possible – was an extraordinary challenge. I have modified this and changed to a small painting marathon. I painted the next 12 pictures almost simultaneously. I started - as always - with the darkest color and then getting brighter all the way to white. One by one, I used (from picture 1 to picture 12) always the same color. The goal of this exercise is a) to paint quickly and b) to reduce information in c) a consistent style with d) the same colors, which e) creates an "inner harmony" within this series.

Die "Challenge" der Woche auf meiner Auktionsseite lautete diesmal, ein Bild mit möglichst wenigen Strichen zu malen. Hier seht Ihr meinen Versuch mit 12 Strichen. Erlaubt war, den Pinsel nur einmal aufzusetzen pro Strich.

The challenge of the week on my DPW auction site, was to paint with as few strokes as possible. Here you can see my experiment with 12 brushstrokes. It was allowed to apply the brush only once per stroke.

2208 Eutin Sketchcrawl

Am Sonntag war dann der sogenannte Sketchcrawl, also das freie Treffen aller begeisterten Zeichner aus der Umgebung. Die Stadt war voll mit in der Sonne sitzenden und skizzierenden Menschen. Ein tolles Erlebnis! Ich habe mal wieder Gouachefarben ausprobiert. 

Allerdings sind die Farben diesmal sehr matt aufgetrocknet: "Interessant".

On Sunday the free meeting of all the enthusiastic draughtsmen from the area took place. The city was full of people sitting and sketching in the sun. What a great experience! Once again, I tried gouache colors. 

However, they look very dull: "interesting".
